Steps to Import a Show

1. Podcaster chooses feature art. From this one image, PLM will generate all the images for the podcast (including the album art). See Podcaster FAQ for more info on choosing feature art.

2. Within 2 business days of submitting feature art, PLM will send the album art to podcaster for inclusion in the ID3 tag of the mp3 file (make sure it is ID3 v2.3 or v2.4) See Podcaster FAQ for more info on mp3 file specifications.

3. PLM will create an ftp upload account for podcaster. Podcaster can begin to upload the mp3 files using ftp. Podcasters should not change the names of the mp3 files when uploading to the PLM fileserver (i.e. keep the names the same as they were in the old feed so that in step 6 we can just change the path to the mp3 files).

4. PLM will create a podcaster login for the PLM website. PLM will also import podcaster's existing rss feed to preserve existing episode titles and descriptions.

5. Podcaster will log into the PLM site to add new episodes or edit existing ones.

6. After podcaster has all the mp3 files uploaded to the ftp server, PLM will run a script that will automatically change the locations of the mp3 files to the PLM fileserver. (Note: The script will only work if you keep the same filenames. You can change the filenames and update the URLs manually in our console if you'd like).

7. Redirect your feed source. Your new feed source is: "showpage URL"/feedburner.rss
for example:
http://personallifemedia.com/podcasts/238-the-new-man/feedburner.rss
Where "http://personallifemedia.com/podcasts/238-the-new-man" is the showpage URL

Redirecting your feed for iTunes (tell iTunes where your new feed is located):
If you directly edit your feed, you'll need to insert the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag. This tag allows you to change the URL where the podcast feed is located. It is added at the <channel> level. The feed format is:
<itunes:new-feed-url>http://newlocation.com/example.rss</itunes:new-feed-url>

After adding the tag to your old feed, you should maintain the old feed for 48 hours before retiring it. At that point, iTunes will have updated the directory with the new feed URL.

For Libsyn Users:
Go into Libsyn, under the Settings tab and click the Advanced button.
Then in the RSS redirect textfield put in your new feed address and make sure you select the checkbox.
Last, click submit at the bottom of the page and you'll be set.
