Podcaster Console
When creating a new episode, you no longer use FTP to upload the mp3 file. Now you will do it directly from the “Media” link for that episode. Here’s what to do:
After you have logged into the console, to create a new episode, click on “Episodes”. Then at the top right of the Episodes page, click “Create New”. Type in all the required information (Title, Number, Duration, etc.) – Note make sure the Number is unique. You can not have two episodes with the same number (if you try, you’ll get a 500 internal error). When you are done, click “Create”.
Next, on the “Episodes” page navigate to the episode you just created. There you’ll see nested menus for “Links Ads Media Guests Preview Edit Delete”. Click on Media to add the mp3 file to the episode.
Click “Create New”. In “Media Format” chose MP3, then click “Browse” to find the mp3 file on your local hard drive. Click “Create” to upload it. Depending on the size of the file and your connection speed, it will take a few minutes to complete.
After uploading, the system will complete the ID3 tag info for you, based on your title, description, episode number, etc. and will include the album art so you will no longer need to insert the ID3 tag info by hand.
You can also add “Links”, “Ads”, and “Guests” by clicking on the appropriate menu links from the Episodes page. You will also be able to Preview your episode here.
Please note that in the Guests menu “Add Existing” lists guest by their ID number. The newly added guests will be at the bottom of the list. We’re working on changing this to an alphabetical sort. We are also still working on the ability to upload photos in the guest creation page. Until then, please email the photos to Adam (adam@personallifemedia.com) for processing.
