Judy Silber: Community Member OneTaste™ Urban Retreat Center
Taste of Sex - Reality Audio

Judy Silber grew up in Southern California.

Unable to tolerate the smog, the density of people and the concrete, she migrated north for college. She attended University of California Berkeley where she majored in biochemistry. Fascinated by the life sciences, she went on to earn her Ph.D. in molecular biology and genetics from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

A few years into the Ph.D., she realized that she was probably better suited for a more social career. Four days after defending her thesis, she moved to Boston to attend a science journalism program at Boston University.

After finishing her Master’s in journalism, she moved back to Southern California. She began working at the Orange County bureau of the Los Angeles Times as a community beat reporter. A year and a half later, she completed the circle she began when she left Berkeley, returning to the Bay Area to write about biotechnology and the business of health care for the Contra Costa Times.

In December 2003, she made a New Year’s resolution. She tacked a small piece of paper to her bulletin board that read, “More people, more music.” Two months later, she received an invitation to an IN Group at OneTaste.

For the first two years of her tenure at OneTaste, Judy served as the OneTaste scribe, taking notes, transcribing and organizing lectures given by Nicole Daedone, OneTaste’s founder and visionary. She currently produces OneTaste’s three A Taste of Sex shows, including Guest Speaker Interviews, Erotic Poetry Readings and Reality Audio. She is also the host, editor and writer for A Taste of Sex: Reality Audio.
